Group Reflection Paper

My group members for the group speech were Alex Potzner, Caitlyn Haller, and Shelby Welsh. I really had a great group experience, and I think my other group members would agree. When we first got together, it was pretty easy to narrow down our topic choices. We ended up not getting our first choice, but we did get the our second choice of the NAACP. We were very excited to start working on the speech, and we all decided to meet on a Wednesday. At our meeting, everyone came prepared and had good ideas how we wanted to present the speech, and also how to find good sources. Throughout the rest of the week leading up to the speech, we corresponded through our google docs and through text, and everyone was really easily

In my group, there did need to be a certain level of commitment to really achieve the success that we all wanted. Each member in the group needed to committed to their part of the work, and the assignment in general. It was easy to see members in my group were committed, because they never gave up on the more challenging portions of the work, such as finding reliable sources or coming up with new ideas. I understand and can explain my group experience so much better, now that I know what commitment …show more content…
We worked very well together, with virtually no conflict at all. Everyone brought new ideas to the table and would upon others’ ideas. Out of class, everyone did their fair share of work, and got it done before we would meet as a group. When we had work times, we were very focused and ready to do work. I do think overall, we could have been for prepared on the visual portion, so the speech could have ran a little smoother. I would give Alex a 10/10 for her work. Even though she was gone for our first meeting, she had gotten her work done before we met. During other work times, she was also very helpful and did a great job of writing the conclusion. She's a very good speaker and group member to work with. Shelby was a great group member and I would give her a 9.5/10. She did a very good job and getting her parts done, and finding many reliable sources. She was also very helpful of other’s parts, but I will say that she could pay just a bit more attention to how the flow of the speech works, so she knows when to come in. Shelby was always very positive and did fantastic work. Caitlyn was also a great group member to work with. I would also give Caitlyn a 9.5/10. She had some trouble deciding on which parts of her information she was going to say, so for awhile is was hard to know what to put in the outline. Her part was very challenging with all of the facts and statistics that she had to deal with, so I give

I recently attended a group observation at Project Point of Light in Shippenville, Pennsylvania. The overall experience was a positive one. It was very interesting to talk to the members and hear their sides of the story. They truly are just human beings and I believe that meeting with them and having an opportunity to talk to them has somewhat changed my view of sex offenders overall. Though I am still confused by their behaviors, which is somewhat difficult to overcome, but I am more understanding of who they are because they are only human and they know they have made a mistake.…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

Group presentations, although sometimes difficult, can be very beneficial to a student in many ways. When there is equal participation among group members they learn to work together towards a goal, trust others to do their allotted portion, and also get to know one another in the process. This last Thursday I felt like my group, Peter Kost, Ariel Wallace, and Emily Chandler, was able to present a well thought out and carefully prepared presentation. Though there were some struggles in the planning process, we were all able to be respectful of each others' thoughts and ideas for the project. I myself went into this assignment willing to not only learn more about the subject we choose, which was migration, but was also open to getting a better…

During the group some of the members, especially Mo and Kelsey, helped provide suggestions for making the recipe and, or they helped others in the group complete tasks or who were struggling to cut tomatoes, like Mackenzie. By helping others in the group, with some verbal cues from the leaders to collaborate and help others, I think all the group members, especially Kelsey and Mo, could see how efficient the group worked together to make the pico de gallo. This collaboration, along with the individual responsibilities, I think helped all the group members see how they could help volunteer in a community setting where they would work with others but still play a vital role in the end product. While some members, like Kelsey and Brayden, explained that they liked working by themselves to tailor recipes based on how they like it, this similarity provided an opportunity for us leaders to point out different ways the members could still benefit and spend time in the community even if the members make the food on their own. For instance, we mentioned that Kelsey and Brayden could volunteer their time making meals for friends who may have lost a loved one, or for older people in the community who are homebound and receive meals from the program, Meals on…

Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…

Team Sales Pitch for iLuun Air Reflection Paper The goal of our team sales pitch was to research a product/service on some sort of start-up website and present the product that we believed was relatable, to our audience; or the people viewing our presentation of the product. Doing a presentation like this one is better for a team because it would be too difficult for an individual or just a few people to complete. By working in a team, more information is available to us because more people can accumulate information and research than just one or a few. Working in a team is also very challenging because at times one or a few people may dominate and make the team less effective and equal.…

Her word choice was carefully picked, precise and clean. Her tone was a calm yet persistent one where one could see how subtle but also determined she was on her work. She would pause just enough to make a clean speech, she didn’t hurry off or seemed nervous in any way which only interested the audience into paying attention to her. However, one may think that she would have an even more effective speech if she would of played with her voice a little more or do some sort of hand gestures. If she would have changed her voice into a stronger one she maybe could have expressed some strong feeling that wasn’t empathy or remorse.…

“As important as the participation of group member is to group synergy, no one wants to encourage participation from members who are obnoxious or bent on sharing misinformation”. (J. Dan Rothwell, pp 276). 3 out of 5 group members were only focused on finishing their portion of the work, which complicated the whole project because it has to be done by the member who proposed the change. Low participation is the problem I felt that we encounter in this group project. I was fully motivated, and willing to spend more time with it; however, not all members were doing effective communications to follow through.…

While exploring the chapters and really diving into the material this semester it was interesting to see how the groups have played out. Particularly in my group, we have individuals with very similar and different circumstances working with one another. As a group, we have set task dimensions such as getting the collective nine hours of community service done, then getting our proof of the hours, completing our papers, and successfully delivering a group project to our peers before the end of the semester or due dates. These are the clear cut circumstances we have been placed into as group the moment we selected to work with one another. The relationships that created quite quickly within our group are also a very interesting aspect of our…

Countless Americans do numerous things today to save time. For example, shopping online versus going to a store to shop. In today 's society, everyone wants to do things fast and for the most inexpensive cost. So the analysis I had conducted was to determine if the woman in fact actually spend more time in shopping stores rather than a male. This topic is something that is interesting to study due to how many people actually spend so long in a single store without even realizing it.…
