There is actually little data that is not conflicting about group process currently. One of the more popular views that pertain to social groups and psychology is that while a group by definition is a collective number of individuals, the group process is largely dominated by individuals acting as such, just in a group setting.

Other viewpoints in this field contend that groups develop different dynamics uniquely different from that of an individual or an individual coexisting and adapting to a group.
