Group Presentation Critique

Group Presentation Critique Our delivery was good, but like anything in life, could’ve been better. We worked hard and focused on transitioning from person to person smoothly, so that our transitions did not seem awkward. We made the mistake of not checking out what computer we’d be using and what we would need to bring in order to show our power point. This hindered our delivery because we had a tough time getting started. We also failed to try and run the video used in the presentation before the actual presentation, which caused us to run a little longer than the allotted time because we had to awkwardly pause in the middle of out presentation to figure out how to play the video. Overall, our group should’ve focused on practicing and testing the equipment out and our delivery would’ve been much smoother. Our introduction was probably the best part of our speech. Shouting the words “Get out of the bike lane!” was a great way to grab the audience’s attention. Once we had the audience’s attention , we also previewed the three main points we would be touching on within our presentation. Our transition to the first main point from the introduction also went fairly smooth. …show more content…
While we did an excellent job of transitioning, we had trouble getting our technology to cooperate. Because we had so much trouble getting our technology to work, I wish we had done a little better keeping the audience’s attention. We should’ve started doing an impromptu speech, while one of us worked on getting the technology rolling again when the video wasn’t playing properly. Overall, we did a good job of discussing our main points within the speech. We made sure we stayed on topic, and not strayed to fair away from our main points, despite the

Kenneth Myers started his presentation with a very enthusiastic story about his time here at Virginia Tech which created a strong connection with his audience and how his major impacted his career choice. From there he built his presentation, going into what his agency does and then into his personal experiences with DTRA. During his presentation he showed his calmness in front of a crowd by being very casual in his speaking manner, he didn’t stutter or slur words. Furthermore, he paced slowly back and forth across the stage so he could speak to the whole audience. He made sure to not stay in one area too long since he wanted to include the whole audience.…

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

It probably could have made my speech better and would have been easier to work on my body language. (3) Repeating words. Since I didn’t have an outline with me on stage, I was basing my entire speech off my memory. When I was giving my presentation, I didn’t realize that I was repeating some words or sentences over and over. For example, “we wanted to visit him.…

It was the Thursday before my speech that I was finally was able to get all the materials for my SHIELD, where I began work on my SHIELD. I hadn’t exactly thought everything out before I began work that night, so there were a few rough patches. First of all, all I knew is that I wanted to have a soccer ball shield. I also went on a trip with my family on Saturday and Sunday, so I couldn’t really start my SHIELD until Sunday night. Nevertheless, I knew that I would achieve some form of catharsis if I took this assignment as seriously as a possibly could. From watching the persuasive speech, it is a recurring theme in my process of watching myself speak that I am much more sympathetic of myself after given said speech. What I immediately notice is that certain planned maneuvers such as the introduction weren’t always as clear as I wanted them to be. The flash cards that I help up might have been more effective if I had less content on them.…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Reflection About Classroom Teaching Experience Being an educator is a challenge and a new learning experience each time. As an educator, I am entrusted with the responsibility of shaping the way students think and feel in the classroom. I have always wanted to be an educator and share my experiences with the new generation of nurses. When I was assigned to work with professor Lynette Rayman to do my classroom teaching experience, I was thrilled because the topic I chose was chronic kidney disease which also happens to be my area of expertise. I had to incorporate my previous learning experiences to make my presentation lively.…

For me, it’s not easy working with others because I like to take ownership of my work. It was a great experience to see the importance of the synergies that were created, as effective division of work and proper communication made a very big project manageable. Also, completely reading the instructions is an important lesson the we learned and can take anywhere. While we were confident about our material in the presentation, we didn’t follow the guidelines well, which hurt us. Trust is a huge part about working in groups, and I gained this trust through interaction with my team members, as well as success early on in the project.…
