Group Inventories also known as QRI-5 (Witter, 2013, pp. 55-56) are group reading assessments that are great when time is scarce or the size of the class is large. Results from this assessment can be used to estimate students’ reading levels, to group students for guided reading sessions, or to choose appropriate books for literacy circles, reading workshops, and independent reading. (Passages, p. 1) Group Inventories requires the student to read a passage to themselves, followed by the answering of comprehension questions. If the student does pretty well with the comprehension results then they require a harder passage. However, if the student does below average on the comprehension questions they need an easier passage. (Witter, 2013,
