Group Title: Personal Pizza Therapy

Frame of Reference: The Model of Human Occupation frame of reference was chosen because of the emphasis on helping practitioners use meaningful activities therapeutically to support the client’s health and wellness. Due to the stressful nature of student occupation, students will miss meals, use poor kitchen safety, poor food hygiene and overlook the importance of a sanitary kitchen; in the classroom, students overlook written and verbal directions and limit note taking due to mental and physical fatigue, which impedes the student’s overall performance. Clients will follow the verbal and written directions provided, participate actively in meal preparation, as part of modeling eating meals, and aide in clean up after the task, as part of group requirements.
Group Membership and size: The group activity was designed for Occupational Therapy Assistant Students who are enrolled in the summer class called Developmental Tasks and attend Chattahoochee Technical College at the Austell Campus. The closed group consists of high-functioning adults. There are three males and seven females that are twenty-one years of age or older.

The cooking therapy group will address proper food hygiene and sanitary meal preparation by washing hands and surfaces before, during and after the pizza activity. This activity is also designed to address cooperative skills by partnering up with someone else to make their dough and prepare pizza toppings. Fine motor skills will be utilized, by grating cheese, manipulating dough and chopping onions. Verbal and written directions will be addressed through the facilitators and the instruction sheet provided. Lastly, meal preparation will address the ease of making a meal to encourage students to remember to eat at regular intervals to keep optimal cognitive
