Group Dynamics Course Analysis

My personal journey throughout Group Dynamics, and why it’s important. I was actually pleasantly surprised. There are many things that I expected and did not expect when starting this course. Because it was not just I, who was taking the skills and qualities with me. My team members and classmates who got to enjoy this course with me. also learned these skills and traits and how to better themselves. So that in the future, we are all more suited. We are all more experienced and have a strong comprehension of what's expected of us. So that we can apply it to our given engineering course, or future employment.

In the beginning, I had no implication of what to expect. The first day I showed up to a large lecture hall. I didn’t know anyone, and

So when I began this course, it was refreshing to see attention given to each student. Especially when I was first introduced to my group members. It seemed that the instructors wanted to incorporate inclusion and acceptance as much as possible. With this, it was easier for me to understand just why the course was set up the way it was. Comprehending to operate efficiently, everything seemed to fall into place.

My group members had common interpersonal linkage power. This caused a lessening of tension and more ability to focus on the topics at hand. It made working as a group a lot more enjoyable because of that. In term one, we started with the forming and storming stages of a group. (Harris, T. E. (2012) pg 36) But seemed lost when it came pushing towards our common

Our group cohesion improved. Evidently, our creative communication worked well towards solving issues that arose.

I felt accomplished, Rachael was impressed, and as a group, we were proud of our improvements. With each term, there were critical lessons that my team learned and grew from. Some I may add, were worse than others. These critical lessons came from giving issues or problems that my team faced. We were able to follow the acronym ‘D.E.C.I.E.D’ (Harris, T. E. (2012) pg 64). to manage conflicts. By doing this, it allowed us to learn important skills needed for problem-solving. It further increases our ability to function in a group.

This goes hand in hand with that I believed I was going to gain from being a part of this course. In the beginning, I thought we were going to learn about the psychology of a group. How it relates to psychology-physiology and sociology. I was gladly mistaken. What I thought I was going to get out of this course was the insights into the minds of those within a group. How to categorize them, organize them and study. In my opinion, my skill set would have encouraged and help me through a course like that. In my opinion, I am good at analyzing issues and trying to come up with a game plan. I have a great skill for listening. For being respectful of others individuality, opinions, and experiences. I didn’t expect to learn how better myself as a team member

Social Work with Groups course is giving me more insight to the other courses that I have taken previously and some of those that I am currently rolled in such as Social Work with Families and Community Development. After reading the textbook and the discussions in class, the theories of group counseling, viewing groups through multicultural lens, leadership qualities and functions, co-facilitator and group development stood out for me and broaden my perception into Social Work as a profession. The first thing that caught my attention this time is that, theories of counseling are also applicable to group counseling. I learned about the theories in my social work practice class last year. This show how important the theories are to me as an emerging social worker.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

Oxford Brookes University informs us that cohesiveness is a measure of the group and it's members desire to remain, a feeling of team where members are willing to work together. A highly cohesive group will show engagement and members participate in meetings and refer to the group, or organization, as “we” instead of “I” or “they”. Extremely cohesive groups also are cooperative, respectful, and generally meet goals. Groups with scarce cohesiveness tend to miss meetings, operate in informal groups outside of the formal group (i.e., create factions, or cliques) and tend to express sentiments of frustration.…
