Out of 102 instances of group members speaking, Amy and Chloe both spoke 28% of the instances of speaking. In total, their verbal communication accounted for 56% of the instances of speaking in this group meeting. Christy spoke the third highest amount of times of 14%, which is half of the amount of times Amy and Chloe both spoke. Brooke spoke for 12%, George spoke for 7%, I spoke for 6%, and Liam spoke for 5% of the time.
One possible reason that Chloe and Amy spoke the most was that there were a few instances where Chloe specifically asked a question with Amy’s name in it. For my personal experience, I was discouraged to answer a question that was specifically directed to another group member. An assumption that I made was that other group members also may have felt discouraged to participate or speak because the question or comment was not directed toward them. It is also important to consider that Liam had his laptop out, which may explain his small percentage of speaking in this group meeting. Throughout the meeting, he looked down at his laptop. Chloe, who is a high-talker, spoke the most times, and had the most interruptions received the most instances eye contacts. Out of 73 instances of eye contact, 21 instances of eye contact were received by Chloe, which is 29%. Brooke, who is a high-talker received 17% and Amy, who spoke the most times received 15%. The low-talkers, Liam, George, Christy, and I received the lesser amount of instances of eye contact. Liam received 12%, I received 11%, George received 10%, and Christy received 5% of the instances of eye
