Describe the communication pattern within this family. The step father Jerry, appeared to carry a higher level of authority within the family. The mother, Elaine, appeared to carry some authority within the family, however, her level of authority within the family did not appear match the authority of Jerry. As he spoke, or when she was asked to speak directly to him she became meek, and timid. Tim appeared to respond to his mother, and his sister, but appeared to shut down when asked to engage with Jerry, or when discussing his relationship with Jerry.…
The group I am currently considering is StuMo, which stands for Student Mobilization. Some of the reasons why I am interested in StuMo are that I am looking to grow spiritually, meet new people, develop leadership skills, and strengthen my character, while also having something to occupy my time here at the University. It is an interdenominational student group, whose mission statement is to raise up laborers for Christ from college campuses and mold these laborers to future leaders. StuMo is open to people of all religious affiliations and ethnic backgrounds. One of their goals is support and help students in any way along their spiritual development.…
Considering that there are several consequences that may interrupt a group’s climate, this week the group discovered how the variables of culture may influences group climates. Alana, Latasha, and Deborah agreed that culture diversity within a group environment may limit the communication between group participants. In the event of Alana participating in virtual group environments she discovered how individuals of different cultures presented different forms of communication. Although, physical contact was not presented, Alana, realized how a group participant’s communication by the means of writing could be challenging, fun, and or interesting. Meanwhile, Latasha expresses how an individual’s belief is associated with their development, and this affect how members in society or groups communicate, since individuals are familiar with doing “things” their way.…

The goal of the conversation was to assure the tone we used with our child would not have a negative effect on her. Although that was the goal, the conversation style was not one of two parties trying to reach to an agreement, but ultimately became hostile which concluded in not achieving the desired goal. Act sequence. The sequence of the conversation started with my wife expressing that my tone was harsh and aggressive.…
While reading “Using Collaboration, Co-Teaching, and Question Answer Relationships to Enhance Content Area Literacy” by Nicole Fenty, I had a chance to learn about some strategies that can be used while co-teaching with a Special Education teachers and a general education teacher. Collaboration is the key to success in a general education setting where there are students who have an IEP because the teachers need to be on the same page of what the students need to learn while Co-Teaching. It is important that each teacher shares the responsibility of teaching the students. This sharing of responsibility allows for teachers to become more knowledgeable in their subjects which, allows them to teach the areas they know the best. Being knowledgeable…

As an emergency room nurse my mind is hard wired to treat patients as quickly as possible and have them vacate to an admissions bed or back home. The acute care environment can be so hectic that looking past a patient’s discharge instructions can easily be over looked. An emergency room nurse regardless of her or his acute care mindset still knows how to apply the nursing process to any plan of care at hand and it is no different to a plan of continuous care in a patient’s home. The key is sending home a plan formulated in conjunction with the input of the same medical professionals and support staff that took care of the patient in the first place. Nurses are no longer moving towards a care process of just following orders, yet as partners…
In addition to Appell’s (2006) recommendation to pointing out the negative cycles of interaction, Gottman (1994) indicated several remedies that could also assist in changing the negative interaction patterns that occur between two people. Some of these can be implement in the treatment of binuclear families that are stuck in negatives patterns. First, assisting them to learn to make specific requests about the complaints, using “I” language, minimizing chances of criticism can be beneficial. While conveying concerns, it is important that the individual speak truth based on unarguable behavior, not assumptions or interpretations while listening to the other person’s feedback. Validation between the two people is also stated to be helpful in preventing negative communication patterns, which can make the other feel heard and understood, making…
The group’s communication and interaction patterns are like how it may be in the prison from which they came from. You have an alpha person in the group. The members seem almost scare to speak about their feelings because they may appear to be weak. In the prison system, you are not allowing to show weakness. If they do, they will most likely get pick on.…
The anger that I had gave me clues to what was really going on. I may be still angry at the child, but I decided not to act on it, on reflection, because I was misunderstanding the full social situation. Both objective understanding and self-knowledge arise, then, from the reflection on feelings and the management of…
In order to ensure that I improve this area of communication, I will be more assertive. Whenever I encounter a situation where I feel uncomfortable, I will speak up and let the other person know how I am feeling. I will express myself in a polite but forward manner so that I can make sure that I have made my point. I will continue to assert myself until I have become comfortable and more aware of how to approach conflicts.…
It is uncommon to observe somebody who likes to be compelled to be some place or accomplish something they don 't have a longing to do. In, 12 Angry Men, we are given only that.
