Personal Reflection On Group Groups

Improved Essays
The team of four that I decided to work with were Abby R, Ben, and Emily T. Overall, I liked my choice of group members. We all got along pretty well with each other, and it helped that I knew Abby and Ben on a personal level. This allowed us to get together at each other’s houses, and work together on the project. This allowed for a much easier collaborative environment, and it also allowed us to collaborate on everything together, instead of one person being assigned one part, and the other person another. I feel like this was a much easier way of creating the presentation, rather than having everybody independent of each other. When a group works like that, the ideas can’t be spread around as well, and you’re left with a narrow point of …show more content…
Our film had a clear and interesting purpose, it flowed pretty easily and was easy to understand. There were parts where it could have been confusing but overall was good. The information that we found was accurate, and the primary and secondary sources were cited in our credit role. I feel like the information that we used from our interviews was strong. They helped relay the essential questions that we were asking the audience, and provided evidence to support those questions. I feel like our visual variety and pacing was okay. We could’ve done more with music, videos, and images, but overall it was pretty good. There weren’t any moments where someone was talking for too long and the pictures that we displayed transitioned at a good speed. We also could’ve done more with effects and not make it distracting. There were a couple instances where our narration was bad, but for the most part, I thought we did pretty good in that aspect. We could have tried to eliminate background noise when making the project, but almost all of our applicants were audible and understood properly. I thought our conclusion was the strongest part of the presentation. I feel like it ended very well, and left the audience thinking a little bit. Our credit role had all of the correct components to it. Finally, our presentation didn’t have any spelling or grammatical errors, and the creativity of the project was pretty good. I would say it wasn’t the best, but it was decent. We could’ve been a little more creative, but I don’t think it was bland at all. All in all, I thought this was a pretty good presentation. We had a lot of strong points, and a couple weaknesses, those being our conclusion, interviews, and narrations being strong within the documentary, and our downfalls being a little difficult to follow at times, background noise, and a little lack of creativity. If we do another documentary

Since this video was a satire, it was made glaringly obvious what the issues were, and it made it far easier for the students to pick out some of the main issues. I also believe that the advertisement examples I used were still effective, though they were not as over-the-top as the video; I believe that the ads I used are a good example of color use, font choice, or image placement, all of which help them stand out and grab the viewer's attention. As I said in the presentation itself, the content of the ads was far less important in comparison to how the ad was able to draw your attention and keep it. I also believe that my example of fonts and font styles were also very effective for the students as, the next day after the presentation, I heard students using the terms sans serif and serif while discussing what font they should use. Finally, I believe that the examples I used were effective because of their relevance to the project.…

In our group presentation, there were areas where are presentation excelled and areas where our presentation could have been improved. Our transitions from one topic to the next lacked fluidity across the board. I struggled with reading the evidence I was using to support my claim which distracted me and the audience. Otherwise, the group was able to smooth talk about their topics without much issue. If we had practiced the speech once or twice, transitions between topics would have been more natural.…

Between the two assessments, I found the Jung Typology test to be much clearer and more accurate. The DISC assessment contradicted itself on more than one point, and opposed some of what I learned in the Jung Typology test. Upon review of the DISC assessment, I read that I had low Decisiveness, which meant that I solved familiar problems quickly, but when placed with an unfamiliar conflict, I struggled and approached it in a “calculated and deliberate manner.” To some extent, I feel that this is true of anyone. Who goes into unmarked territory blindly? In my various jobs, I’ve found that improvisation comes quite naturally for me, so I disagree with this statement.…

I wanted to activate my eyes and create that energy and I think that went well. 4. How did my facial expressions help tell the story and make me seem relatable to the audience? For this assignment, I was able to use my resting “pleasant” face to my advantage. My stories were all very positive and upbeat so that positive facial expression was important to maintain throughout the performance.…

When I lead the group we stayed on track and efficient, but when I am not interested the group may not get my idea even if they like it because I don 't believe it it the best I could come up with. The intuitive portion of my personality is a positive for the group because I use knowledge not feeling decide. As a decision maker or persuader I am very blunt and concise. I like to work with the knowns. For example, in the glow product activity I supported ideas that were practical and inventive and persuaded why the other creative ideas wouldn 't work and would be a bad idea.…

I was kind of confused about the railing, so I understand why I lost marks on that part. As I said before I was kind of far away in terms of guarding and also I could have done demonstrations which would have helped a lot. In terms of my overall communication, I think that I did a pretty good job in terms of my voice being clear, confident, providing encouragement, etc. In that perspective I felt I did a good job but I could have done a better explaining the skill to the patient as well as providing demonstrations. But, overall my communication was pretty good.…

This made understanding this certain topic very easy to do as compared to the Introduction which I had a tougher time understanding. The other example that I became very interested in was “Motivation 3.0” and all the elements regarding it. Pink did an amazing job at detailing the three elements and each aspect of those elements very clearly, with lots of examples and imagery. He also includes great outside quotes that perfectly capture aspects of his argument, like one from Julius “Dr. J” Erving saying “Being a professional, is doing the things you love to do, on the days you don’t feel like doing them.” Every detail and example he used made this read into an enjoyable experience.…
