Group A-Personal Narrative

Group A has faced many conflicts throughout the semesters and fortunately the hostility was resolved rather quickly. Each member from the group spoke up about their feelings and was soon followed by a group reflection of the expressed hostility. The group was able to bounce back and continue the therapeutic process with a little more insight. However, with the crises that occurred prior to these last two sessions, it has really taken effect on the group and the way they manage hostility. The here and now process has not been able to progress even with the help of the leader. Instead of communicating about what had happened and expressing each feeling, the only interaction going on is about trivial things. My question now is why is the group …show more content…

Molly and Gabby unfortunately were in similar situations but the reactions of the groups differed. Although, there was avoidance in both groups, Group A’s avoidance is lasting a lot longer than the avoidance in Group B. I believe it is because of how Molly described the situation and her current feelings about it. It is scary enough to know that she tried to end her life, but to say that it might happen again tomorrow or in two years caught the class of guard. Everyone was trying to help her change this mentality but she would not budge. I understand that this feeling does not go away in a blink of an eye but Molly’s reaction reminds me of the self-contempt behavior Yalom mentions. Molly is in a tough situation where she is giving up on herself and because of that she may be rejecting the hope given by the other members of the group. Thus, having this mindset “If she does not have the capability to help herself, nobody has the capability to help her.” Which then effects the group’s atmosphere, in this case projective identification. If she feels hopeless and nothing is getting through, quickly after the group took on that feeling of hopelessness as

As a member of a club called "The Best Buddies Club", our role as a member of the club was to be assigned a buddy whom suffered physical disabilities for a large majority of their life. Throughout my experience I had met many kids around my age with certain disabilities, and with that I learned about the lives lived by each and everyone of them. A few told me sorrowful stories of a time they were bullied either physically or verbally. It brought great disappointment to humanity as a whole, those kids were one of the sweetest I've ever met. This led our group and I to spread awareness with a motto of "spread the word to end the word", directed at abolishing the use of the word "retard" or as we called it "the r-word".…

As an emergency room nurse my mind is hard wired to treat patients as quickly as possible and have them vacate to an admissions bed or back home. The acute care environment can be so hectic that looking past a patient’s discharge instructions can easily be over looked. An emergency room nurse regardless of her or his acute care mindset still knows how to apply the nursing process to any plan of care at hand and it is no different to a plan of continuous care in a patient’s home. The key is sending home a plan formulated in conjunction with the input of the same medical professionals and support staff that took care of the patient in the first place. Nurses are no longer moving towards a care process of just following orders, yet as partners…
