My camp gross rosen was established in August 2nd of 1940. It is located in lower Silensia in a satellite camp of sachsenhausen. On May 1st of 1945 Gross Rosen became a self-sufficient camp. Gross Rosen had about 120,000 prisoner that passed through. About 40,000 prisoner vanished. At first, the prisoner were employed primarily as forced laborers in the concentration camps which the ss-owned granite quarry. Gross Rosen had three commanders who were: Arthur roedl, Wilhelm Gideon, and Johannes hassebroek.
