Grocery: A Fictional Narrative

The boy was asleep.
Simply put, he had fallen asleep after doing four hours of homework, now, however, a door was begging to open.
“Kousei! Hey! Watari and I wanna say hi and hang out- open the door!”
The boy, Kousei, sighed once again before answering the door for his friends. “Hey Tsubaki, hey Watari, why are you two here?”
“I wanted to hang out and Watari said that he didn’t have anything else to do, so I dragged him over,” the small girl at the door said, a large grin plastered onto her face as her eyes sparkled.
“Not true, I came because I wanted to,” the other friend, Watari, pouted.
“Kousei, I made Watari come with us so don’t let him tell you some lie,” said Tsubaki with confidence.
A flash of pink went across the front window, forcing

“Nothing, sorry, so do you two want anything to eat? I purchased some groceries before coming home today,” Kousei replied diligently.
Watari nodded excitedly, his stomach growling loudly.
“You didn’t come all this way just to eat, did you, Watari?” Kousei jokingly said.
“Of course not, I wouldn’t do that to my best friend and besides, even if I did.. Wait, why are there boxes in the living room?”
Kousei looked back and said, “Oh, sorry, I was just looking through some old paraphernalia in the storage closet and trying to clear up some space.”
“Fair enough, I suppose,” replied Tsubaki, “But let me help you while Watari pigs out.”
Kousei and Tsubaki walked to the box filled living room and looked around. Both friends started at the front of the pile of boxes, gradually melting down the cardboard mountain. Eventually, Watari came to join them, a smudge of peanut butter on his cheek. About thirty minutes after Watari joined the duo, a cry came from the inside of the small

The stupid box was in the way and I tripped over it. What was in it anyways? It seemed pretty heavy.”
The young, spirited girl impatiently opened the box and peered inside. “Kousei? Are these your old books?”
Kousei looked over her shoulder and sighed.
“Tsubaki, close those, okay? I’ll take care of them,” Kousei said, a sad look in his eyes making them loose any sparkle. He took the box from Tsubaki and walked up the stairs to the office space.
While Kousei was in the upstairs area, Watari turned to Tsubaki and said, “He still hasn’t played?”
In reply, Tsubaki said in a quiet voice, “Yeah, I miss it. He was so much cooler when he played piano. If only Saki didn’t have to go, he would feel so much better.”
Kousei came back downstairs after a little, sensing the apologetic atmosphere. “Hey, Tsubaki, it’s cool, I’m not mad or anything. Come on, let’s take a break.”
A few minutes later, all three of them were outside and walking to the small park across the Towe Hall Performance Center, otherwise known as the THPC. Tsubaki and Watari had left him to get one of their friends, a girl who was supposedly meeting them

A clear cloudless day-time sky hung over Las Vegas, a bright azure sky, matching the water in the pool as Ava waded away from the steps to splash herself. As Milo, Tock, and the Humbug continued on their journey, they stopped at a little box sitting on the side of the road. Half of the box was smooth, shiny, and painted a light pink, while the other half was chipped, decaying, and was a dull white. There was a small window in front, and connected to it by a string was a white sign with sloppily written words. “Well, this is... peculiar,” said Milo, getting out of the car and staring at the tiny box that was half his height. Tock got out next and began circling the box, carefully inspecting it.…

The High Plains Drifter seemed to hang in space: illusion, of course; it was actually traveling at a high rate of speed. Despite its ornate appearance, it was classified as an intra-system barge, and they could move, not as fast as an inter-system cruiser but they could still move. Its owner was the Royal Duchess of Spine, Kaitlin Caitlin Adderlink; it was chartered out of the Broxun system; and it could easily carry 50 people, in luxury. At the moment there were only three people aboard.…

It was (Kurapika would later think, as he hunched over his kitchen table nursing the worst hangover of his life), a true testament to how drunk he'd been that he hadn't turned around and walked right back out of that place. It wasn't just that it was a tattoo parlor -- that he could have handled, although gods know he probably he have balked at even the most vanilla of establishments; no. Pairo had gone and taken him to one of the roughest, toughest, most notorious tattoo parlors in Yorkshin, the Inked and Slashed, where the only thing that ever managed to successfully overcome the smell of stale vomit in the air was the cigarette smoke that hung over the place like a perpetual cloud. The Inked and Slashed was the place to go if you were…
