The band Grizzly Bear came out with an album in 2009 titled, Veckatimest this was the first album that gave us a glimpse as to what Grizzly Bear would develop to look like in 2016. For the most part Grizzly Bear remains in the same genre: psychedelic pop, indie rock, and art rock. The band started with Ed Droste as a soloist, then time later the band was formed. The new band composed Yellow House in the year 2006. Yellow House was a darker and creepier album in comparison to Veckatimest. As of today, the band has presented the country with a newer album: Shields, which was released in 2012. In my opinion Grizzly Bear is like a good wine that gets better as it ages. The band progresses in skill with each album that comes, and the product is bigger and better than the one before. …show more content…

The instruments tend to be played with the clashing of chords which give the songs that gothic or hippie sound. Usually, pop songs are harmonious at all angles, but Veckatimest defies what is normal, and they create music that is spacious, creepy, and full of wonder. In the album, the songs themselves don’t seem to change much as the album progresses but the vocals make the

Even though it was difficult to understand the words of the vocalist, it was still noticeable that the words went along the rhythm of the song and the melody. After the lyrical section of the song, the electric guitar had a solo which had a riff at a medium tempo; the solo seemed to have only been a written solo, since the musician appeared to be reading it from the music sheet. After the guitarist solo, there was a horn solo which involved tonality of high pitch notes. The whole band then played a consonant harmony that had the same syncopation as the introduction. Then the vocalist sang, while the guy in the keyboards played a chord.…

In Chris Bachelder's “Bear v. Shark”, he presents us with a frightening view of American society and culture. He shows us that we are constantly looking into a void of thousands of pixels creating images and relaying useless yet interesting information and promotions. Just like our society, Bear v. Shark is a fast paced entertainment system that’s more concerned with information regarding simple insignificant things than important major events. However, unlike our society, Bear v. Shark does not present the paradox leading to the mindless pursuit of our zombification.…

In the first listen, the expression of the singer, which seems acoustic in nature despite the background play bring out the message in the song. Based as a description of what used to mare the African American community, the song expresses the anguish especially in the tone of the song.
