During an April 2013 TED talk, “Grit the power of passion and perseverance”, Angela Lee Duckworth discusses an obscure factor of success inside and outside of school. Duckworth believes that “Grit” is more important to success than someone’s intelligence and she found that some of her smartest students were performing worse than those who worked harder. Duckworth ellaborates that grit is the will to go after a goal for a long period of time, work hard, and be consistent in the effort to achieve goals. Duckworth recounted that after her discovery as a teacher she went on to graduate school where she learned about psychology and the potential effects of grit.
