In everyday life there are many examples of grit. While we may not know it, we have at least once in our lives experienced a point where we had obstacles in front of us and despite those obstacles we were able to reach our goals.To have grit is to not only work towards your goals and overcome obstacles but to do it with courage and determination. There are many examples of grit in Into Thin Air. One is the feat of climbing everest itself. Jon Krakauer said “Secretly, I dreamed of Ascending Everest myself one day; for more than a decade it remained a burning ambition.” (Into Thin Air, 1997, p.23) It was obviously a goal for him to climb everest. Krakauer worked diligently on his goal. He lived for climbing and lived from paycheck to paycheck
