If you answered yes to these questions, then you have grit. As Angela Lee Duckworth states in a TED talk, "...It wasn 't social intelligence, it wasn 't good looks, physical health, and it wasn 't IQ: It was grit. The world would be different if people thought grit was not important in the way that no one would have goals to achieve and nothing to work toward. People would not know to overcome obstacles and rejection, and continue to work for what they believe in. For example, my mother may have not been able to get a job and be motivated to further herself in her career if she thought grit was not important. My mom has demonstrated grit throughout her search for work, and during work as well. Also, Miley Cyrus shows great amounts of grit during her career when she received large amounts of hate, but she did not get discouraged. Last but not least, Walt Disney also displayed grit when he got fired from an amazing job opportunity, but he kept working and his business became remarkably successful. In sdgva.org’s article “Grit: Perseverance and Passion for Long-Term Goals,” Angela Duckworth explores grit, which is a quality that allows one to achieve their goals through dedication, perseverance, and focus. Although grit is a trait that may take years to perfect, individuals who possess the quality stay true to their goals, despite hardships and failure. Studies have shown that gritty individuals stay focused on one goal at a time, whether it be starting a certain career, or finishing a certain number of years of education. On the other hand, individuals who do not possess the quality change their minds more frequently when it comes to career paths and education. Duckworth argues that grit is equally, if not more important than natural…

Only being an undergraduate student at Indiana University, I am not bountiful of professional experiences. My professors and peers notice my themes and personal qualities daily.
