In the original when Cinderella and her prince have their wedding the stepmother and stepsisters are invited. Before the sisters enter, birds peck out their eyes; this is their punishment for being so cruel to Cinderella. In the movie they are not punished, just knowing that Cinderella is marrying her prince is punishment enough.
Grimm Bothers version of Cinderella is drastically different from Disney’s portrayal of the classic. Disney got rid of the graphic scenes in order to make it more child friendly. They also changed some aspects of the family. Cinderella suffers much abuse from her stepmother and sister without any complaint. She is busy completing her chores and taking their abuse but does nothing but sing about it, how one day her prince will come. She wishes things would change instead of making them change.
The women in this movie strive to be beautiful rather than independent. The stepsisters spend countless hours getting ready for the ball, where they hope the prince will fall in love with them. Even Cinderella when her fairy godmother dresses her now believes she is beautiful. The mere fact the prince falls in love with her at first sight, not because of her personality but because of her
