Grilled foods are not only tasty but they absorb less fat which means a lower amount of calories. Many people, especially people from the southeastern region of the United States, use the frying method to cook foods. There are many disadvantages to fried foods. Even with frying a healthy food item it ends up with a high fat content due to grease. When grease is absorbed it raises the blood cholesterol level which causes main arteries to clog. Foods also contain more moisture when being grilled. The reason this happens is because the grill cooks the food at a very high temperature for a lower amount of time, which locks the juices in. It is also the healthiest out of all of the grilled meats. Grilled chicken is extremely low in calories and jammed packed with protein. Grilled fish is high in protein and also contains omega-3 which helps the heart by keeping the blood pressure steady. Grilled foods are healthier because they require less grease and they take less time to cook. Deep fried foods soak in grease which adds more calories. Many fast food restaurants fry their products in trans-fat, which is basically oil that is not naturally made. The oil that is used to fry those foods is typically contaminated with different unnatural minerals. The FDA are currently trying to put a ban on trans-fat being used in foods. Fried foods sometime contain Monosodium glutamate (MSG), which are basically salt contaminants that are used to “enhance” foods. If a person does decide to fry food, they should take the necessary precautions to remain and live a healthy lifestyle. You should limit the amount of French fries that you eat. Keeping a balance between herbs and fried foods is a good choice. When frying food, you should also try and use healthy oils; like olive oil or sunflower-based oils. Olive oil plays as a lubricant for the core of the heart. When considering new meals, you should try the Mediterranean meals, because they include much fish and chicken. You should not only consider the oil that you cook in, but the batter that you cook with.
