An eight-year study of 19,000 middle aged women published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in 2010 found normal weight women who drank moderately, 1 glass of wine per day were less likely to become overweight or obese than women who didn’t drink.
In a similar additional seven-year study for the Women’s Health Initiative of 16,000 women concluded that middle-aged women who partake in a glass of red were more likely to maintain their weight than the non-drinkers.
