Grey's Life: A Narrative Fiction

After the tragic car accident killed his loving parents a decade before, a transformed, short, solitary nihilist sauntered down a dark and narrowed pebbled boulevard. Although this sullen lad longed to ignore the horrific incident and regard his existence as excellent, in reality, it was thousands of miles from being so. After all, the fault laid in his own decision. His decided isolation had caused him to detach himself from his friends, family, and peers. Now, each day was uniform as he encountered his gray tabby cat, Dylan, the viridescent trees that stretched outside of his log cabin, and the single brown package that delivered his food via FreshDirect. Though his subconscious would seep in every now and then, hissing that he had to interact with the world, he reassured himself that he did not. Rather, he preferred to remain cuddled up, safe and isolated from society; occupying each twenty-four hour day, he would learn new recipes, watch Grey’s Anatomy, and feed his beloved pet. In the beginning, he was more than content with this newfound “lifestyle.” It was simple, he did not have to care. As time crept by, he spent an overwhelming amount of time with his pale reflection in the mirror. Exhausted of his daily routine, he started to go stir-crazy. It was then, that he reached an epiphany; this was not a life that he wanted to live. Following this realization, the loner sealed his fate and committed suicide.
