In a video taken by a marine biologist, who was recording gray seals, happened to find a flabbergasting discovery. Playing in the background of the video was a adult gray seal killing and eating a gray seal pup. The wound from this was also in the spiral-like shape. Director of the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, Andrew Brownlow decided to further examine this case, and sure enough he found nine other dead pups orbiting the same area. Since he is a veterinary pathologist, a person who studies animals that wash ashore and find the causes of their deaths, he was able to recognize that the wound marks were the in contrast to the injuries from the boat propellers. They had seen that the fray sela had drowned the pup. Deciding to trace the adult seal, they found that the gray seal had killed about twelve pups. This brought up confusion. Scientists from Canada suspected that sharks could be the reason to the deaths, while in Germany, there were two cases in which a gray seal was caught attacking a harbor seal. Using the information they have collected, they came to a conclusion that gray seals were the cause of the deaths. The population of the gray seals are increasing, and it seems as if they had found a new diet other than fish-other marine animals. But the case on what is causing the deaths of the seals is still occurring, for the thought of the boat propellers still hasn’t been ruled
