“GET UP HANSEL! GET UP!” Gretel screamed. Hansel shot up only to see a wide-eyed Gretel kneeled next to him. “What? What is it?!” Hansel questioned. “It’s papa!” Gretel exclaimed. Gretel’s out stretched hand pointed toward the clearing outside of the cave. Hansel’s gaze followed. A dark silhouette stood in the clearing. As he got closer the silhouette became clearer. A tall man with an unkept beard and kind eyes met Hansel’s gaze. “Papa!” he cried out as he ran toward him. Suddenly his father stepped out of the way sending Hansel flying forward. Confused, Hansel looked around. They were not at the campsite anymore. The roaring of the water filled his ears. His father started toward him. Hansel backed up only to trip. His hands found the edge of the cliff. Hansel looked up at his father who loomed above him. He looked bigger, and more frightening than ever before. “I should have ended this a while ago,” his father yelled. Then he placed his foot on Hansel’s hand and pushed it off. “AHH,” screamed Hansel now only dangling by one hand. His father placed his foot on Hansel’s hand and then shouted “Goodbye”. Hansel’s hand dislodged from the cliff and he was falling.
