There are many similarities and differences between the characters, Grendel and Beowulf. They are similar because they both fought for what they believe in. They are different because Grendel is a horrible monster that terrifies the people of Danes and Beowulf if a glorious hero. However, when you look at the two they are mainly similar. So, what compare the two? They are both powerful, enormous in size, and greedy. In the poem, Grendel and Beowulf got into a powerful battle with each other. Grendel was a tall and big monster who roamed the village of the Danes. Beowulf was so huge that everyone in the village respected him. Beowulf was a large and noble man that was admired by many. Grendel can be described as a 20-30 feet tall monster. Two big sizes going against each other is a great fight to see. Beowulf and Grendel can both be considered greedy. They both seek for the attention of others. Grendel wants everyone to like him deep down inside, but the people of the village sees him as a troubling creature. Beowulf wants to be recognized for his heroic deeds. Beowulf wanted the village of Danes to see he was a great leader and that he can do anything with his heroic courage and powerful strength. Therefore, people who seek praise or attention can either receive it or not. As you can see, Grendel and Beowulf are not too different from each other. The two are very strong.
