Throughout his entire life Grendel has never killed someone or something without a valid reason. The only logical reason Beowulf had for killing Grendel was that he has murdered people. However any time Grendel had killed someone it was for an extremely good reason. If killing people was the only reason Grendel was was kill Beowulf should’ve been killed too. In reality Beowulf killed significantly more people than Grendel did. However Beowulf is seen as a hero for his actions because the people ke killed were “monsters” as well. Grendel never liked killing, and he avoided it at all costs. Even when he killed some of Beowulf’s men, he only did it because they wanted to kill him. Grendel never deserved to die. If anyone had truly known him they would understand that. Grendel had nothing but a smart mind and a good heart. Even as Grendel died he died with courage. For example as he was dying he said “ and though I fought it with all my will I know in advance I can’t win.” (citation) In the very end Grendel finally became content with dying. Even though he was only killed to prove an act of heroism. He took his death with pride, which shows true
