Grendel In Beowulf

Grendel in the beginning of the book was young and still a child. His mind was only innocent, until, he had discovered the ordinary world. There lived men that would impact his life. Throughout the book, he grown into realizing the ordinary world was not like his home where it was safe and sound with his mother. It was not all fun and games anymore after encountering a raging bull meanwhile being stuck in a tree. There he stood for days losing blood calling for his mother's rescue,but she never came to help her only blood. Being stuck in that tree made young Grendel believe he was the only thing in that world that existed and humankind was just another ignorant thing living.After meeting with Hrothgar he went on to observing their daily lives. …show more content…
Learning that men are skilled beings who are actually problem solvers, he finds them to be quite intresting and dangerous as they war for a long period of time in the snow to only try and show off who is the best. He finds them to be stronger than he is in the beginning of the story before he becomes cursed by a dragon he later then meets. The dragon showed him that he is not the only thing that exists, but that everything is real and all things can happen and Grendel can confront all those things that stand in his way and achieve them. Although, Grendel is at his full power of invensibility, he cares for the Shapers somgs, still, and Unferth as he brings him home after he comes to confront him in his own cavern drowned out by the burning lake. Grendel at this point is no longer a child and takes control of his problems. He is more aware of everything in his destruction of the meadhall. Every now and then, Grendel would come to feast on the soliders to keep his reputation, not that he cares,but likes to be the reason why people worry so much in Herot.
