Gregor takes the managers words as motivation to him, which strange, because talking about him turning the key is not usually encouraging to a normal person. This shows that he has been missing encouragement his whole life. This statement, one which usually would not be taken as encouragement, Gregor uses it as the encouragement he never got and uses it to open the door. It may also be a sign that Gregor always wanted to be encourage to do what he actually wanted to do and follow his dreams ,but cannot due to his parents debts, and it’s what every one cares about most, the debt hence his sister crying not for Gregor ,but for the parents debts. He feel useless and uncared for. This claim can be made since he tricks himself into delusional thinking that everybody is waiting in suspense for him to open the door, which they are not and how the Kafka points out that his parents should be cheering him on but they are not.
