Early life
Gregor Mendel, born in Heinzendorf, Austria on July 22,1822 to Anton and Rosine Mendel on his family’s farm.At age 11 a local schoolmaster recommend sending him to a secondary school in Troppau to continue his education.It was a financial strain on his family, he graduated in 1840 with honors. Then enrolled in a two year program at the Philosophical Institute of the University of Olmutz he graduated the program in 1843.
A Monk
He began to study as a monk and then joined the Augustinian order at the St.Thomas monastery which was the center of cultural region.He was quickly exposed to research and teachings of its members and gained access to the monastery's huge library and experimental facilities.In …show more content…
His most important conclusions was the Law of Segregation established that their dominant and recessive traits were passed on randomly.Also the Law of Independent Assortment established that traits were passed on independent of other trait from parents.In 1865 he gave two lectures to the Natural Science Society in Brno they published his results in their journal titled “Experiments on Plant Hybrids.”
Lator Life
In 1868 he was elected abbot of the school he had been currently teaching at for the last 14 years. Because of his resulting administrative duties and his continually failing eyesight kept him from doing any long lasting scientific work. He did not travel much and was isolated because his contemporaries a result of his public opposition to a 1874 taxation on the monasteries as to cover Church expenses.He was 61 years old when he died on January 6,
