He had an armored back, a brown belly which was slightly domed with arches, and many small legs. This is change is very obvious because his entire physical appearance is different. Gregor is in denial at first. He thought that he could fall asleep and then wake up with everything back to the way it was as if it were just a dream. He is worried more about his job than being transformed into this bug. He has his job for his parents. He knows that if he loses this job then his parents will be in trouble. Doing this shows that Gregor is a caring person that does not always think about himself. He overcomes the physical change when he tried to get out of bed. The story talks about what some people could have done differently to speed up the evacuation. Trying to move 20,000 people to the same area in a short amount of time can be a challenge. The slightest thing could cause a ripple effect which can cost lives. Some of these are obstacles that can block the path of people, but emotion is also a big factor in this. Some people can be shut down by panic which causes them to slow down which then slows others down with them. This is obviously not very good, so the best way to overcome this is to stay calm. Some people do not panic because they know what has to be done in order to survive. I think that it depends on the personalities of the people. Some are brave and some like to follow the brave ones. The author talked about how if there was a better evacuation system such as the people at the bottom getting to exit first lives would have been saved. This would have worked because if there already was a stream of people going down the stairs and then another floor full of people decided to go into that stream everyone would have to stop. Those are the changes that needed to happen if we wanted more people to survive, but we wouldn’t have to worry about any of that if we all
