Greg Bashaw's Chickens: A Short Story

Greg Bashaw lives with his sister, mother, and father in Long Island. The family raises an array of animals including, chickens, ducks, and geese, near their suburban townhome.
Four years ago, Greg six chickens, followed by two baby ducks a week later. One of the ducks lived with the chickens, causing its behavior pattern to be similar to a chicken.
Since it was right after a day of private school, Greg had a brought his friend Leah home with him to study and relax. Greg took the chickens and the one duck outside to explore their yard with Leah. He noticed that although the chickens were stationary and ate grass, the duck seemed to wonder off and runaway.
Noticing that the duck had gone missing, Greg frantically searched for it. Greg was
