Greeting Message Paper

For this assignment, I decided to stick to the theme of October. I made a preschool newsletter. In my newsletter, I included events that occurred since the last newsletter, upcoming activities and events, at home practices, birthdays, and party information. I thought my newsletter was appealing because I was really organized and each section was short and simple. For the overall greeting message, I let parents know that the students were learning about the season Fall. School systems usually want the students to understand each season. It helps them to compare and contrast objects, …show more content…
I had written down vocab that they could go over at home like “windy” and “cold”. I also asked parents to go home with their child and find different colored leaves, so they can continue to determine their colors in different environments. I really wanted to add the birthday section in the newsletter because it showed that my class full appreciates our children and recognize a special day in their life. It could also help other parents be aware. I also like the idea because it makes the child feel like they are important. The newsletter I choose to compare mine to was a preschool class as well. We both talked about the theme of the classroom and added reminders for parents. They also had a section that thoroughly gave out information for an upcoming event at a park. They even added different foods parents could pack for their child to make thinking easier. One thing I liked about their newsletter that mine did not have, was a contact number to reach them if there were further questions about anything. I still feel like my newsletter was better because it was more eye-catching. It made the theme in the classroom look more fun. I think the newsletter could have improved on letting the parents know what the kids are learning about in class. It doesn’t show much educational information for the parents to go home and

Dewey & Freire: An Experiential, Social Approach to Early Childhood Education When connecting the philosophical theories learned in class with my future pedagogical practices, I am naturally inclined to focus on those philosophers whose ideas resonated with me the most. As a believer that the purpose of education is to raise active members of society and that education can indeed change and improve our social system, I selected John Dewey and Paulo Freire as the two pillars of my teaching philosophy. From Dewey’s point of view, learning and real life are intrinsically related and the school should be an “embryonic society” that echoes the community itself; Paulo Freire recognized the school as a reflection of society as well and, as such,…

I think that writing about an event they experienced excited them and encouraged them to help write the letter to the parents. On the other hand, the group effort provides opportunity for the children who have developed the skills to shine while the ones who may be still grasping the concept could keep to themselves and fail to follow along because individual assistance is not given. I can see myself using these techniques in my classroom and observing how the children…
