Walt Disney was a wonderful man, a hero even. But some questioned that fact. Disney just so happened to have a remarkable obsession with death, which made some people believe that he was an evil man. This “obsession” was taken more seriously than needed. Although Disney’s obsession was peculiar, he should still be viewed as a hero to the world today.…

The Dark Mountain Manifesto Rhetorical Analysis Environmentalist writing can take on many different forms; the Dark Mountain Manifesto is no one of those. If anything the Dark Mountain Manifesto is the complete opposite of environmentalist literature. At first, however, it was not obvious that this article was meant to be post-environmentalism, post-green revolution, and post-green technology. The heavy usage of rhetoric and alluding language makes it clear that the author does not want to immediately give away his argument but convince the readers through creative writing. His main argument challenges the concept of environmentalism, he claims that it is a delusion created by the myth of civilization and progress, and also consumerism.…

1.0 Introduction Richard J. Muller is an accomplished professor at the University of California at Berkeley with expertise in a variety of areas including: energy efficiency, conservation, solar power, and nuclear power. His book “Energy for Future Presidents” is an open monologue where Muller expresses his thoughts on the current state of energy sources and its potential in a growing world where the demand for energy is continually escalating. The need for this book stems from a lack of in-depth knowledge about energy sources and the issues surrounding it. This publication focuses around exploring alternatives for energy security in the United States, while also keeping in mind the effects that these energy sources have on global warming. One of the greatest strengths encompassed within the reading pertains to the author’s ability to be non-subjective in his writing and that the author offers a different perspective on energy; separate from the way the world understands it.…

After watching these short films I am reminded no matter how advanced our society get in technologies from Iphones to Tesla’s some people will always continue to be stuck in the past when it comes to values and ideas. We have basically endless amounts of information at our fingertips and maybe 10 years away from self-driving cars but some people in this country treat other as if we are in the 1920’s. How is it ok for media outlets to produce content to persuade people into their ignorant narrow-minded ways? Disney movies are the worst when it comes to sending an alternate message of ignorance; they portray woman as a helpless princess that needs a big strong man in order to live happily ever after or they send a message of racism like in the…

When it comes to the topic of Disney and how it represents history and culture in its films, most will agree that Disney’s portrayals are highly inaccurate. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is that Disney is working to better portray non-American cultures and history in their films. Whereas some are convinced that Disney has and still is inaccurately representing the history and culture of many other people such as the Chinese and Native Americans, others believe that Disney is now beginning to accurately portray Polynesian history and culture in their newer films and may continue to improve upon other cultural representations in future films. In the article, "Cultural Deformations and Reformulations: A Case Study of Disney's Mulan…
