The endangered species I chose to talk about in my summary is the Green Turtle. The scientific name for a green turtle is Chelonia Mydas which is also a chelonian which means they have four legs and a tough shell that is made up of two parts which join at the sides. The green turtle is one of the largest sea turtles in the world and the only herbivore. Green turtles are of course named after their green color of their body and shell. Green turtles are mainly found in tropical and subtropical waters. I chose to write my summary on green turtles because I find them very interesting and I love the way they look. I recently went on a cruise and was able to visit a green turtle farm and it was an amazing experience. Green turtles are in a state of endanger because of several different reasons such as: threatening of overharvesting of eggs, hunting, getting caught in fishing gear and loss of nesting sites. Thousands of green turtles are caught in fishing nets and on longline hooks. Green turtles use oxygen to breathe so when they are caught in nets and on hooks they typically cannot reach the surface and eventually drown. The more fishing that occurs the more dangerous it will be for the green turtles. Human activity and vehicles on the beach have been increasing causing no clean beaches for the green turtles to nest on. Humans hunt green turtles to …show more content…
Now the abundance has been slowly decreasing over the years and is now in a state of endanger or collapse. The green turtles are now in this state from hunting, being killed in fishing gear, overharvesting of their eggs, humans taking over their nesting sites and etc. There are many ways to help keep these beautiful green turtles from being endangered such as keeping the beaches clean and private where they can have their nesting sites and also by not overharvesting the green turtle

This shows how scientists are helping the turtles survive because scientists are monitoring their chances to survive and are willing to help them. However, the article titled “For The Turtle's” does not effectively show how humans are helping the turtles survive in many ways. According to “For he Turtles” by Achieve 3000 it states, “The ambitious plan called for collecting about 70,000 sea turtle eggs in up to 800 nests buried in the sand on beaches across Alabama and the Florida panhandle.” This evidence is about how many people are going to help gather the turtle eggs across the Alabama and Florida beaches. This shows how “For The Turtles” is not effective iosin showing the ways that humans can help save the turtles because there is no much detail to it.…

Sea turtles became endangered because of civilization's encroachment on their nesting environments, illegal poaching and fishing mishaps. Adult turtles nest and lay their eggs on land, and the baby sea turtles, after hatching, move to the sea because they're attracted to natural light over the horizon that reflects off the ocean's waves. Unfortunately, only about one out of 1,000 babies survives until adulthood because of predators that include birds, crabs, raccoons, dogs, aquatic predators and other threats that attack the eggs and hatchlings. Even adult sea turtles…

“The World on the Turtle’s Back” Analysis Essay “The World on the Turtle’s Back” is an Iroquois myth that attempts to explain the creation of the world through the usage of fable and folktale-like elements. Animals, nowadays, go extinct because of humanity’s irresponsible actions, such as pollution and deforestation. While there has been an increase in awareness, the “management actions and their evaluation for sea turtles are still frequently hindered by lack of key data on turtle biology, human–turtle interactions, turtle population status and environmental threats” (Hamann et al 246). Because of the lack of respect for the environment’s wild and marine life, humans do not realize the severity of animal extinction and all the repercussions…
