The shell is its largest part of its body; this heart-shaped shell covers the entire body, giving the turtle protection if ever threatened. The name can trick people because the shell is not always green. The shell can be a variety of colors such as brown, dark olive, gray, or black. Underneath the smooth shell is a yellowish- white color that makes the turtle’s features even more beautiful. The green sea turtle is humongous compared to other turtles and grows to be three- four feet. Studies have proven the animal can grow to be bigger than this. This vast animal can weigh up to 300- 350 pounds as a full grown adult; this is not even the biggest sea turtle in the world. There is not a tremendous difference between the female and male green sea turtle until they reach maturity. The male green sea turtle grows longer claws that curve downward. Arvinachelys golden was found by a team from Natural History Museum of Utah and discovered the fossil at the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
