It combined the importance of preserving the environment and living in a nonviolent world. This movement inspired many Green Parties across the world. In the United States the The Green Party first met in the United States in 1984, in St.Paul, Minnesota. Here 62 people gather to find the United States first National Green organization, called the Green Committee of Correspondence. The meeting brought together activist from all areas. The founders wanted the party to be surround by words like empowerment, community, and neighborliness. Nevertheless arguments arose this caused the split of the Green Committee of Correspondence. It was voted to be changed into the Greens/Green Party USA. The Green party started to become known and many states began to make official ballot lines for the Green Party. The Green party held their first National Convention in Los Angeles, California and launched their first campaign in the 1998 election. Over many years the Green party became more famous and increasingly popular. By 2005 305,000 people were registered as green party members.
