The Green Light symbolizes Gatsby’s hopes & dreams for the future & Gatsby also associates it with Daisy. The Green Light is mostly Gatsby reaching towards the darkness and finding a light to lead him to his goal. Gatsby believed in the Green Light because it inspired him not to give up & never to let Daisy down. Gatsby loved Daisy to the point he’ll go to the end of the world for her. He went upon his way to find ways to bring her around such as parties, & getting Nick to get them back together. Nick goes out his way to make Daisy come to Gatsby but it always has been a complete fail. I think Daisy still loves Gatsby deep down inside her heart but it to scared to show or admit the fact that the love is still there between the two. Daisy’s

Jay Gatsby, a hopeless romantic, values two things above all others—love (particularly his love for Daisy Buchanon) and money (which is what he plans on using to win Daisy’s heart) (Kersh 1). Fitzgerald uses the color green as a symbol for love and money as well as Gatsby’s ultimate goal—a reawakening that will erase his past and create a future for his relationship with Daisy. Fitzgerald associates green with life and growth (Colour 47), the life of Jay Gatsby and the growth of a love affair with his beloved Daisy Buchanon.…

In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald developed many motifs that span the whole book, Since a motif is a recurring image, detail, occurrence, etc. that an author develops to unify an idea and/or explore an idea, I chose the green light found throughout the book. The green light represents Gatsby’s dream to be with Daisy again and the perfect future that he strives for with Daisy. This idea is found throughout the book especially when Nick sees Gatsby alone at the end of chapter one, when Nick was brooding over the world, when Gatsby shows Daisy and Nick his backyard, and also on the second to last paragraph of the book. “... he reached out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling.…

In chapter nine of The Great Gatsby, Nick prepares to move back to Minnesota and cogitates about the lifestyle of Americans, philosophically. In addition, he contemplates Gatsby’s strong desire to live in the past. The motif of the green light conveys how the pursuing preceding events may ultimately cause false beliefs in an unattainable dream. Furthermore, the temptation of the jade luminosity signifies the passion that Gatsby possessed for Daisy, watching over her every night. This motif of light may demonstrate the failures of the American Dream because it manipulates all people into becoming naïve and immoral to attain a reverie.…

In the novel, Gatsby used to look out to a green light where Daisy lived. The significance of the light is that it didn 't symbolize Daisy it symbolized Gatsby desire to have Daisy. Gatsby was also known for throwing these spectacular parties that everyone would come to but, no one really knew the real reason for him throwing the party. The real reason he threw the parties was to catch Daisy’s attention and get her to come to these parties. The thing he was really waiting for was for Daisy to come to a party without Tom so that he could have more alone time with her and “fix” her like he said he would.…

The world consists of different dreams, and sometimes people refer to a dream as a “green light”; one thousand people will have one thousand different dreams - some aspire to become a successful scientist and win a Nobel Prize while some simply devote themselves to the course of helping poor children go back to school. According to the novel “the Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby’s “green light” is the reunion of him and Daisy in the future. Although my “green light” is not as fancy as those “big dreams”, I do wish that all my family members can always stay healthy and live happy lives. I always agree that health is the fundamental premise for everything. Nothing can bring health back if someone has already lost it.…

The green light was something he looked out upon again and again to picture Daisy and make it Daisy. Since Daisy became the green light to him, when he has her in his arms it didn’t feel truly full to him. He seemed to want more than Daisy had. Nick states from his observations, “Possibly it had occurred to him that the colossal significance of that light had now vanished forever”(V.93). Gatsby’s realization of Daisy and she didn’t fully reach his expectations, the green light, shined through his words.…

Thomas Hilfiger once mentioned in his memoir, “The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it is possible to achieve the American dream.” Within the veins of every American streams the positive motivation to thrive. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, and Tennessee William’s play A Streetcar Named Desire we are able to see the relationship between dream and reality through the symbol of light shown in both plays. As both stories progress, we see that the main characters of both novels, Gatsby and Blanche dwell on their past relationships and they both use the symbol of light to show the dreams that they really have . Gatsby uses the light as a symbol for Daisy who he dreams of having a relationship with and Blanche uses the light to remind her of her husband who recently died who she dearly loved. The green light represented the possibility of their relationship and just as Gatsby was captivated by Daisy he was captivated by the light, “he stretched out his arms toward the dark water in a curious way, and, far as I was from him, I could have sworn he was trembling (p.21).” Fitzgerald uses figurative language to describe how Gatsby’s need for Daisy is a total physical and mental compulsion. When he finally meets up with Daisy again and she puts her arm around him, “it had occurred to him that the colossal significance of the light had now vanished forever… Now it was again a green light on a dock. Thus, Fitzgerald displays the concept of the American Dream, to be dead.…

The American Dream promises equality, opportunity and happiness to those insistent on its pursual. However, F. Scott Fitzgerald contradicts this claim in his masterpiece The Great Gatsby, as he uses symbolism in order to portray the inability to achieve the American Dream and the corruption incited in its pursuit. Thus, Fitzgerald uses the symbol of the green light in order to represent the American Dream and Gatsby’s futile quest of this ideal. He also uses the valley of ashes to communicate both the decadence of the upper class as they carelessly splurge, and the resulting loss of vitality and hope in the lower class. Therefore, in The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald effectively uses symbolism to convey the fictitious sense of hope provoked by the…
