Ben lives with his family, but does not work or go to school. Ben has several positive and negative symptoms. He has hallucinations which are hearing voices that tell him to do bad things. He is oversensitive to sound, he leaves the room when things get loud, or a baby is crying. Ben also has delusions, although he does drive and go out to the store while there he must get in and out as quickly as possible otherwise he believes the people there are plotting something against him. His negative symptoms would include a lack of energy and interest. He really does not do much besides sit at home and watch TV. There is some social withdrawal but at the time it was because his grandpa had passed away. Ben also does smoke cigarettes but the Green et al. did not have any data on whether this is harmful other than that certain medications like haloperidol would increase the desire to smoke. The relevant theme in Ben’s case is that there is depression which he seems to be taking medication for. I also feel that his environment is also not the best environment for him. Though he has the support of his family it is not a calm, simple environment which is important for people with this
