Green day haven’t been flagged down ever since during their time together and with their release of their second album, 1992’s Kerplunk, they gained the recognition of other record labels that caught their interest. Due to their solid fan base, they signed with the record label, Reprise. Dookie, another album that was released in spring of 1994, turned out to be a major hit to the punk society. Surprisingly, this album was completed in a time span of 3 weeks. This album has made it possible for the punk generation to grow and prosper. Not only that this album was number 4 on the album due to the support of MTV for relentless broadcasting of their songs such as "Longview," "Basket Case" and "She." The song “Basket Case” help the album increase the momentum as this song stayed on the American modern rock Chart for at least five weeks. MTV wasn’t the only support they had but they also perform at Lollapalooza and WoodStock 101 that increased their popularity. Green Day managed to steal the show with ease with their performance at these events, which helped the sales of Dookie to increase exponentially. “When I Come around” was another hit single that was released and this managed to stay number one on the modern rock chart for at least seven weeks. Green day would then plan to do small projects in their free time before they would plan another album release. They starred in a cover of John Lennon’s “Working Class Hero” as a charity album, played in The Simpsons Movie, and produce an entire 60’s style rock & roll as the alias of Foxboro Hot Tubs. After countless days of waiting, Green Day has finally announced the release of another album, 21st Century Breakdown. This album was a success that sold over 215,000 copies in its first three days of sales. The album was much more than a typical punk rock music because it turns out that this 18 track tells the story of two young punk lovers, Christian and Gloria, that adrift during the broken post-Bush era. It talks about the struggles and the problems these lovers had to face during the corrupt and dreadful era of Bush. The beauty of this album and the growth of Green Day proved that they have the aspiration to push their boundaries to become the band that no one would forget about. In the history of rock and roll, Green Day has the most remarkable transformations. After the release of 21st Century Breakdown, Green Day released three more new albums: ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!. These albums clearly display that Green Day was returning to its original high-energy punk music but they would still show a sign of classic rock to their songs.
