The Ancient Greeks have influenced our world today in many ways, but Greek literature is the area the Greeks made the biggest contribution. The first reason why Greek literature has made the biggest contribution to our world today is they formed our alphabet. At about 750 BC, Grecian traders started to communicate with Phoenicians. They used a script called an alphabet. The Greeks changed the alphabet by adding vowels which made it easy to use. The writing was used later on to keep track of public decisions and records. After that more citizens were able to read as Greek literature was developed. Another reason why Greek literature has made a big contribution to us today is by introducing us to theater. In there theater performances they would have choruses sing about a god or a hero.The theaters became more popular around the 6th century BCE. The theaters became so big that is could fit 15,000 people at one time. An additional reason as to why the Greeks made a big contribution to our world today is the fact that they created Aesop fables. Aesop was a slave and lived on the Greek island of Samos. He was freed as a reward for his learning. Aesop traveled and retold fables that he had learned along the way. Some of the stories you might have heard of such as, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and The Tortoise and the Hare. My final reason why Greek literature made the biggest impact on our world today is because They made some epic poems that people might consider still famous today. One of those epic poems was The Odyssey. The Odyssey is an Epic poem written by Homer A famous poet a long time ago in Grease. It starts with the end of the Trojan war that they have been fighting for 10 years. In the story it talks about how Zeus got mad and made a storm that threw them off track.
