His name is Jim and he teaches how to score, and even though they are fans of two different teams they make it work. The war that was going on at the time Jim had been drafted into. Jim and Maggie’s relationship changed, but they still wrote about baseball and they both new almost everything about their teams. When Jim returned for the Korean war he was in need of help. Maggie has many nicknames such as Mags, Maggie-O, and her mom calls her by her full name, Margaret Olivia Fortini, when she is not very happy with Maggie. Maggie is a huge Brooklyn Dodgers fan! She knows almost everything there's to know about baseball. Maggie is super sweet and does her best to help. Jim Maine is another main character. He is a true Giants fan and works with Maggie’s dad.. Jim Maine ends up being drafted into the military to serve in the Korean War.. Maggie and Jim connected well through their love and knowledge of baseball.
*Minor Character: One minor character in the book, I feel would be her dad. From my understanding of the novel, Keeping Score, he was the person that introduced her to baseball. He is a fireman, and Maggie sits at the firestation a lot. While she is she there she listens to all the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball games. This is the reason Maggies is a die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan! I feel he is a minor character ,because I don't think he shows up a lot. Without her dad introducing her to baseball Maggie and Jim would not have connected so well and became as close.

In the story "Ordinary Use," by Alice Walker, the plot is extraordinarily impacted by Maggie and Dee, the two little girls of the storyteller. In spite of the fact that they are sisters and are brought up in a similar situation, Maggie and Dee are altogether different from each other; they think and act unmistakably. In addition, their clashing characters fill in as images to pass on the general subject of the story. From the earliest starting point, the storyteller uncovers the distinctions in the characters of Maggie and Dee. In this way, it is extremely hard to pinpoint likenesses between the two.…

In escaping her current life, Maggie also leaves behind her best friend Nell, a representation of self-confinement comparable to Maggie’s own unintended self-confinement that results from her misplaced compassion by marrying Edward Vardoe. Maggie doesn’t leave Nell entirely behind though, the two women share a strong commonality in their respective self-awareness’. Nell’s act of sending her beloved swamp angel to Maggie is emblematic of the duo’s departure from isolation; at once, Nell eliminates the final barrier between herself and her daughter and Maggie is reminded that one may let go of the substance but it is the essence that is and must remain eternal. In the story “Recitatif”, Maggie is a kitchen woman and a target for abuse. Maggie attracts the ire of the residents on St. Bonny’s due to her being mute, bowlegged, and wearing a childish hat. With a passing glance, one would think that Maggie is simply a side character who plays very little role in the story as a whole, but this cannot be further from the truth. Maggie is absolutely central to the conflict of the story, and she has a profound effect on the actions of other characters within the story and the story’s theme. Maggie’s effect on the actions of Twyla and Roberta is shown in how both remember Maggie and the event in the orchard in completely different ways.…

Barthes problematizes the existence of an author in his essay “The Death of the Author” by suggesting that the reader is as complicit as the author in making meaning of the text, and therefore the birth of the reader is at the expense of the death of the author. However, what should be problematize is not the existence of authorship, but the possession of authorship. Authorship does not vanish. Instead, it is transferred from the creator of the text to the subjects in the text. The creator dies and, in turn, passes the authorship to the characters.…

Maggie, a girl of her own unfortunate environment In Stephen Crane’s “Maggie a Girl of the Streets” published in the year 1893, there is a very clear demonstration of naturalism. This particular piece of work by Stephen Crane was published during the time of the Industrial Revolution. Where the factory workers in the city were in the true since of the word treated like slaves who had no voice, yet they stayed because either you worked for basically nothing and tried to support your family or you died living in the slums and squalor of the over populated city. Ultimately the carters in “Maggie a Girl of the Streets” fall victim to their unfortunate environment as well as their mistreatment from there abusive father and alcoholic parents. “Maggie…
