Greek Mythology Has Ingrained In World Culture

Greek Mythology revolves around the gods, goddesses and the heroes of the time period. When in need or just for extra luck people would pray to the different gods. Whether it was the mothers or wives praying to Hestia, the Virgin Goddess or Hearth and Home, or the hunters praying to Athena, the Goddess of the Hunt, the Gods of Mythology were heavily worshipped. There are many different versions of the Greek Mythology stories, the most accurate would be from the writers of the time period when the stories took place. One example of Greek Mythology is the story of Hades and Persephone, and how the seasons came to be. Hades fell in love with Persephone one day and kidnapped her from her mother Demeter, the Goddess of Vegetation. Demeter became very depressed and stopped helping the earths plants grow. Zeus, knowing what happened to Persephone, decided that she should be with her mother. Hades found out that Persephone was going to be taken to Earth to be with her mother, and before letting her go fed her the food of the underworld and linked her to the underworld forever. Now she spends four months in the underworld and the rest on Earth with her mother. The four months that she is in the underworld it would become winter, since her mother would become depressed and not help with the vegetation of the Earth. Another example is the story of Echo. She was a nymph who was cursed for having relations with Zeus. Her curse was that she could only repeat the words that others say, and when she died all that was left of her was her voice, creating the echoes that people
