Hero in training (Hercules) will search for a wise advisor to help him complete his journey to be a true hero. Zeus sends Hercules to find one of the best to train him to be a hero, Philoctetes a grumpy satyr (half-man and half-goat). Hercules accidently finds Philoctetes in a bush trying to chase nymphs and is astounded by his appearance. The wise advisor finally agrees to train the young hero, after vigorously training Hercules makes progress quickly. Hercules is ready to step into the city to prove his heroism. On his the way to Thebes with Phil and Pegasus (his sidekick) a cry for help is heard, his first task as a hero unwinds. As a true hero would rescue a damsel in distress so does Hercules. Hercules enters the city and the people of Thebes and is immediately unwanted; he proves to them that he is worth believing in when he recues two boys stuck under a boulder. Just as Hercules tastes his first step to victory he is once more faced with a greater task, fighting a hydra. Every monster and enemy is placed in front of him by Hades (god of the underworld). Task after task, Hercules completes each one quickly gaining the cities’ love and he is seen as a hero in their eyes. Hercules supreme ordeal, Hades uses Megara to trick him into giving up his strength for 24 hours. During this time Hades causes destruction and takes over Mt. Olympus as long as Megara does not get hurt. A hero facing the greatest task seems impossible. The deal is broken after Megara saves Hercules, costing her own life; Hercules is determined to save her soul from the underworld from Hades. The hero encounters a near life situation as he looks for Megara’s soul; he does not die as he is transformed into a god.
