The Greek Gods are the Olympian rulers of Ancient Greece in Greek Mythology, which can be traced back to 8th century B.C. Each God was responsible for something in the world that the Ancient Greeks lived in. There were 6 first generation Gods and 8 second generation Gods. The Goddess Artemis is a part of the second generation of Gods (“The Olympian Gods”). She is known as the patroness of hunting and often carried a bow and arrow (Hemingway). She can be found in modern society in books and movies, and associated with the author Rick Riordan. She is one of the most ruthless and fierce goddesses in Greek Mythology, along with other gods associated with war, she has many sacred symbols that are important in her history as a hunting and warrior goddess. She also fought and killed many monsters in Greek Mythology. Orion was a giant and a hunter who tried to rape the virgin goddess. She killed him with her bow and arrows. In other versions of the story, Apollo tricked Artemis into killing Orion out of jealousy. Orion was said to be her friend and hunting partner. Once Artemis found out what she had done, in grief, she placed his body into the constellations. Actaeon was another hunter who stumbled upon Artemis and her nymphs bathing in their sacred pond. She caught him staring at them, and turned him into a stag. She then sent his own hunting dogs on him, which then killed him (Day). She was involved in killing the Giant Brothers Aloadai after she discovered they had captured the War God Ares and sought to overthrow the Gods. She defeated them by placing a deer in between them.
