The Greek God Hades, also known as the Roman God Pluto is the God of the Underworld, not to be confused with the God of death, Thanatos. Hades is the son of Cronus and Rhea. Hades rules the Underworld as its king, his wife being Persephone. When Hades and his brothers were born Hades drew the short straw and was sent to rule over the dead while his brothers, Zeus and Poseidon were sent to rule over the living. When Hades an this siblings were young, Cronus swallowed them. In result Zeus managed to escape. Zeus later got Cronus to spit them up. Once they were out the siblings rose up against the Titans. After this the Gods were to choose a land to rule over, Hades ended up getting “the short straw” and now rules over the Underworld. The
