What are the Healthy Choices When Eating in a Greek Restaurant?
When you think Greek food you think healthy; owing to their delicious culture that comes packed with a variety of flavors from light to rich and deeper dishes. Furthermore, researchers have linked its mix of fruits, whole grains, vegetables, unsaturated fats and lean meat to reducing the risk of coronary diseases and cancer among other conditions. However, like most culinary imports, the localized restaurant versions serving huge portions of feta and large sized piles of moussaka may compromise the healthy attribute of the food.

Sagani is a traditional Greek cooking pan and any food cooked in it has the name “saganaki” tagged to it. Shrimp Saganaki for instance is a dish of shrimp, garlic, tomatoes, and feta cooked in the sagani. This dish is commonly mistaken for the plain saganaki without the word shrimp, which is actually fried cheese. The shrimp saganaki is the better and healthier option thanks to the vegetables and low fat content.
