Greek Architecture Research Paper

Did you know that in ancient Greek architecture there were people to plan how everything would be laid out? Greek city planners used different components, such as columns, creative patterns, along with borders to design original, elegant cities. In their time, the Greeks made innumerable different buildings. A selection of ancient buildings is still around to show us this. The architects of ancient Greece had busy, difficult jobs, but they still created some of the most amazing buildings in all of history.
Columns were always a huge part of ancient Greek architecture. The columns of Ancient Greece became a way of showing the stories of Greece’s history. At first, the Greek architects were not extremely skilled, but over time, they developed a very iconic style with their columns. The Greeks built temples, theatres, gymnasiums, assembly halls, as well as homes to complete their cities. Greek temples were created as homes for the gods, therefore they were considered extremely important. An outstanding example of a Greek temple is the temple of Concord, Argentino, which is the second best preserved Greek temple. The theatres looked very similar to the assembly halls. Though the theatres were made for performances, the assembly halls were to host meetings. Gymnasiums, for the Greeks, were very similar to the gymnasiums in schools today, but with extra rooms for special training. Undersized, simple, the homes were not used to a great extent, due to a climate that allowed everyone to spend their time outdoors. Covered walkways, or colonnades, bordering places like the markets, together with stone tombs are some examples of the other structures built in ancient Greece.
