The Pearl Greed Analysis

Greed is considered one of the seven deadly sins, which means wanting too much of something and never being satisfied , this sin is presented as a theme in the novella The Pearl , written by John steinbeck which talks about mainly about an indian legend of ( the pearl of the world) and what this discovery of this pearl effects the life of the main character and his family, this novella starts by showing the readers about kino's life " the main character " before he finds the great pearl and the events leading up to the discovery of this pearl , this novella starts with the discovery of this pearl and the effects of finding this pearl on kino's life and family in general ,

even though he hoped to help his family with this wealth the result was the death of their baby coyotito . no wonder why greed is one of the seven deadly sins , just like it leads to kino's baby's death it leads to many problems and destruction for people in the real life not just novels or stories .

after all we can say that the major theme is greed in this novella , because the main lesson of this story is that wealth and money is not what life is all about , and it doesnt always bring happiness or you can be happy through money , it sometimes brings destruction when it brings and awakens the greedy beast that a person might have inside of him sleeping waiting to be awaken by something specially
