Greed In George Orwell's Animal Farm

In Animal Farm by George Orwell, the theme that greed is a contagious flaw of human nature is present. Before Old Major dies, he tells the farm animals in his speech that their lives are “miserable and short” (Orwell 3). Mr. Jones did not properly care for his animals because he was trying to let them die as soon as possible, so he can sell them off for money. With all the money Mr. Jones of Manor Farm owned, still could not improve the lives of the farm animals because he would spend every dime he gets on himself and liquor. Meanwhile, Napoleon saw how Mr. Jones treated the farm animals, so as soon as Napoleon got total control of the farm he began to mimic Mr. Jones character, resulting in Mr. Jones greediness being contagious towards the
