Animal Farm, by George Orwell, is a short story with a big metaphor, and many underlying themes. Animal Farm is a story about a group of farm animals who rebel against their cruel keeper, Mr. Jones, the rebellion was successful, but things turned after greed and corruption spread quickly through the leaders and all that was rebelled for was lost. As said before, there are many underlying themes in Animal Farm, but the three that stood out the most to me were Greed, Leadership and Hope. I will explain how these themes stood out to me.
Greed is actually a very prevalent theme in most of Animal Farm, most of it is focused around the pigs, the main brains behind the whole idea of Animalism. One of the examples of greed can be found in the event where Napoleon, the main leader of Animal Farm, is found sleeping in abed inside Mr. Jones’ former home, this is going against one of the Seven Commandments of Animalism (“No Animal Shall Sleep In A Bed”), Napoleon managed to trick the animals by saying that the commandment was always ‘No animal shall

Animal Farm is an allegory as it has parallels to the Soviet Union and the possibility of totalitarianism. The phrase in the book "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others" is a good satire on the facade of equality that communism in Russia at the time had. The pigs were the communist idealist, some of them being representatative of ones present in Soviet Russia, and they had a plan to overthrow the farmer, Mr. Jones, who is like the old tzars of Russia. The farm goes from a monarchy, to communist government, to a totalitarian government, resulting in Napoleon, the head pig, having complete control over everything in the farm. In the end, the communist idealist pigs turn into just what they had overthrown, and the rest of the animals could no longer tell them apart from the humans.…

When the other farmers found out about the rebellion that happened at Animal Farm, they all wanted to have Mr. Jones’s farm under their own power, “At heart, each of them were secretly wondering whether they could not somehow turn Jones’s misfortune to his own advantage” (Orwell 24). The power hungry farmers deeply demonstrate how they have no pity for the loss (loss of the farm) of his friend, but instead they feel greed. Because of the greed infested farm caused my Mr. Jones, both farmers who still had their farms were too blind to notice all the corruption that was taking place on Animal Farm. Instead they were focused on gaining as much wealth and power as they could, result in greed being such a big flaw that was spread across the entire…

In Animal Farm by George Orwell, the theme that greed is a contagious flaw of human nature is present. Before Old Major dies, he tells the farm animals in his speech that their lives are “miserable and short” (Orwell 3). Mr. Jones did not properly care for his animals because he was trying to let them die as soon as possible, so he can sell them off for money. With all the money Mr. Jones of Manor Farm owned, still could not improve the lives of the farm animals because he would spend every dime he gets on himself and liquor. Meanwhile, Napoleon saw how Mr. Jones treated the farm animals, so as soon as Napoleon got total control of the farm he began to mimic Mr. Jones character, resulting in Mr. Jones greediness being contagious towards the…

When a farm is overthrown by the animals inhabiting it, to fix the corrupt rule that they’re already under, power coaxes them to into being just as corrupt, if not more. Three major examples are Farmer Jones, the pigs and dogs in general, and the head boar, Napoleon. Absolute power corrupts Animal Farm absolutely.…

The book “Animal Farm” by George Orwell is an allegory of the Russian Revolution of 1917 though most know it as a story which that explains Communism. The story starts with a barnyard of animals feeling abused by their owners and wanting their lives to be different, not long after we hear about that we meet an older boar on the farm named “Old Major” who tells the animals about a dream he had where unless the animals rebel most of them will die within the year. Shortly after Old Major dies and the animals start the rebellion against their owner Mr. Jones, the rebellion ends with the animals chasing Mr. Jones and his wife from the property, taking it for themselves. Banned From Literature Syllabus The Russian Revolution is such a big part of history and is interpreted in different ways so everyone from all backgrounds will understand exactly what happened. Many books, essays, and articles explain how the fight between Stalin, Hitler, and Trotsky took place but the negativity that highlighted on how they ran their government was criticized because other similar countries are doing some of the same tactics. Governments are feeling the need to censor what the population reads and listens to, and in the process of doing so, they are abusing the power they have. Animal Farm, an allegory written by George Orwell, talks about farm animals rising up and revolting against their cruel leader to become degraded…

Secondly, as Napoleon gains power he starts to use it to increase his status and importance. In addition, once the pigs gain power, they use it to fulfill their own physical needs and desires at the expense of the other animals. Therefore, according to Animal Farm, the significance of power is that it eventually becomes the means to fulfill one’s selfish desires rather than improving the lives of society as a whole. First of all, power leads to avarice as seen by Mr. Jones who, as the owner of the farm, abuses the animals for his own profit. It seems to be a natural instinct for humanity to differentiate themselves as better than animals.…

The novel is really a warning for it’s readers and politicians. This novel shows how people are taken advantage of by others. “Fear and greed are potent motivators. When both of these forces push in the same direction, virtually no human being can resist”, is what Andrew Weil said, explaining the effects of greed and the result that they can have on mankind. Green is commonly known to have effects on humans that in most cases, turn out to be negative. This idea even dates back to the story of Adam and Eve, the first man and woman of existence, who became greedy and got in trouble with God for, against orders, retrieving something they wanted, but did not at all need. This idea of greed and the consequences that it brings with it has been known for many hundreds of years, yet even to this day, normal people make choices that can easily be described as selfish and greedy…
