Greece is an astonishing land. It is a highly mountainous area, and it is full of rich culture. However, it’s economic state is sub-par compared to the United States and China, it is full of beautiful scenery that makes up for it. It is also home to the famous city of Athens, which is its capital. Greece, also known as the Hellenic Republic is an extremely interesting country, with beauty in every place you go. Greece is one of the most mountainous countries in Europe, due to these mountains, it has no navigable rivers. Greece is home to a series of ancient volcanoes, including those on the islands of Kos, Methana, Milos, Nisyros, Poros and Santorini.

In the earlier 2000s Greece had an economy crisis, and poverty rates were pretty high, and literacy rates were low. Now, literacy rates are on the rise, the total population’s literacy rate is 97.7%, but males have higher rates than females, according to a government article published by the CIA Greece is also a part of the EU, and its national currency is the Euro.
The rich history draws in many tourist, there are many folk stories about Greek history, and that ties into culture. About 16.50 million tourists visit Greece each year, which is more than the country’s entire population. Tourism constitutes nearly 16% of the Gross Domestic Product, and most tourists visit to learn about history and culture. Some tourist attractions include the Acropolis of Athens (a temple), Meteora (a world heritage site), and the famous Parthenon.
Due to an extreme amount of tourism, Greece has a well rounded transportation system. There are 77 airports, which is impressive consider how geographically small it is. They have paved roadways, and a massive rail system. In Greece, the total rail system reaches 2,548

In fact, it is far closer to just the population of the state of Georgia, which is 10.1 million. That is a little less than one million more people that Greece has. Most of these people are literate, in fact 97.7% of Greek citizens can read and write.
