Greater Prophets:
Have you ever been threatened to be thrown into a fire because of your faith? Or thrown in a lions den? There was a prophet named Daniel who went through both of these things and more. During Daniel’s time, the Jews were under Babylon whose leader was King Nebuchadnezzar. It also takes place when Babylon was seiged by Persia. Daniel was given the task of relaying the Lord’s messages to the people and trusted the Lord in spite of the danger of his own life.
This book was written to two different groups of people. It was originally half written in Hebrew and also the other half in Aramaic. Another fact about this book was that it was written around 597 BC. The reason this is said is because it takes place during Babylonian captivity or exile. This makes the leader Nebuchadnezzar. During his reign, he was having strange dreams, which was interpreted successfully only by Daniel.
Daniel came to realize after a little while that God was using him to reveal major prophecies. For example, when Daniel was interpreting the dreams, he was predicted or prophesying what was going to come in the near future to the country. For example, when Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, get thrown into the furnace in Daniel 3, the three of them and an angel of the Lord come out of the furnace. This caused Nebuchadnezzar to worship God. But not soon after does he have a second dream,and when Daniel interprets it, the king gets angry. But what Daniel interprets comes true, proving the righteousness of God. Then, later on, with King Darius, Daniel was thrown into the lion's den. God protects him, and the next day, he lives. When King Darius saw this, he reacted positively and let Daniel out. Then the king praised God. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego all were influenced by David to be more faithful as
